Lydia Bontrager’s youngest sister is frighteningly ill, and as a good Amish daughter, it falls to Lydia to care for her siblings and keep the household running, in addition to working as a teacher’s assistant and helping part time at her grandmother’s bakery. Succumbing to stress, Lydia gives in to one wild night and returns home drunk.

The secret of that mistake leaves Lydia feeling even more restless and confused, especially when Joshua, the only boy she’s ever loved, becomes increasingly distant. When a non-Amish boy moves in nearby, Lydia finds someone who understands her, but the community is convinced Lydia is becoming too reckless. With the pressures at home and her sister’s worsening condition, a splintering relationship with Joshua, and her own growing questions over what is right, Lydia could lose everything that she’s ever held close.

My Thoughts on this Book:
I truly fell that his it a good read. You learn about Lydia youngest sister Ruthie and Lydia struggles. You may to start crying while reading this book. I now I did. I felt like i was a part of the story myself. We also meet the  Kauffman’s Family. We meet some of the Kauffman Family member from the Kauffman’s Amish Bakery series. This story is about the Elizabeth and Eli granddaughter Lydia Bontrager.

Lydia starts out with being stressed out about her little sister illness. She makes several mistakes and she starts to understand a bit. Her parents are stressed out as well about their youngest daughter and what she might have.

Lydia works two jobs. One is at her grandmothers bakery, the other is as teacher assistant to the Amish Primary School in her district. You will have to read to find out what happens to her and if she get her dream and what job she chooses for full time. I do recommend this book all readers young and old. This book can stand along a bit. Though if you want to get to know the rest of the Kauffman’s Family I suggest that you read the “Kauffman’s Amish Bakery” series.

My Thoughts:
Fern and Abram not getting in the love. Abram is taking care of his siblings for a amount of time. He is always turning to her for something. The way they get together is quite different from any other way and I really enjoyed it.

Each book or story in the book is different. They found their romance differently form each one. Each story tell a different story. I like this some for that means there are three different ways. Each one is a wonderful read and enjoyment. You can read it if you like and decide for yourself.

Synopsis:
The first step in a challenging journey is often the one that means the most.

Though it means saying goodbye to the beloved friends and spiritual mentors of her St. Charles, Missouri quilting circle, Anna Goben is certain that she needs to enlist her family in the Boones Lick Company wagon train. The loss of her beloved brother in the Civil War has paralyzed her mother and grandfather in a malaise of grief and depression and Anna is convinced that only a fresh start in the Promised Land of California can bring her family back to her. Although the unknown perils of the trail west loom, Anna’s commitment to caring for her loved ones leaves no room for fear—or even loving someone new.

During the five-month journey, trail hand Caleb Reger plans to keep a low profile as he watches over the band of travelers. Guarding secrets about his past and avoiding God’s calling on his life, Caleb wants to steer as far from Anna as she does him, but she proves to be just as he assessed her from the beginning— independent, beautiful trouble.

Led by a pillar of hope, the group faces rough terrain that begins to take a toll on their spirits. Will the wilderness of suffering lead them astray, or will the gentle song of love that echoes across the prairie turn their hearts toward God’s grace and the promise of a new home?

My Thoughts:
This book is really good. I loved it from the beginning. You will be reminded of a book from the other series that you may think that it connected to it. It was really intruding. You will learn how to deal with some really serious issues.

The issues are a various of different things. One person in this book can show how they deal with geif and it not all good. You get to experience some things going on Trail as well. I would recommend this book to any one that likes historical fiction, a bit of civil war era, romance.

Though I am not going to make you decide I will let you decide for yourself if you want to read it or not and rate for yourself.
